C64

I was interested in C64 PAL DTV2 modding from the first minute this fabulous unit came out to gaming market. There is several options and possibilities to mod DTV to fullfill all need of classic C64 gaming. Modifications that I have made are listed here:

  • Added all ports (PS/2 PC keyboard connection, IEC port, 2 joystick ports)
  • Color fix and S-video mod by Daniel Kahlin
  • Created new kernal and flashed it with Kernalpatcher and Flasher by Daniel Kahlin
  • Improved DTV2 original powersupply by replacing it with LM1117 3V3 LDO
  • Modified DTV2 is installed in working 1541II diskdrive, 5V input for DTV2 is from regulated 1541II 5V.
  • Added to same 1541II installation also 1541III by Jan Derogee/Pyrofer/Jussi Säily. 1541III is modded to be drivenumber 9, so it is possible to use real disk and memorycard with DTV2. It is also possible to use 1541II and 1541III with real Commodore IEC device, tested with C64.

Some images of my modified DTV-1541II-1541III device:
